Web Development and Marketing
It's not 1996 and it's not enough to just have a website. Today your website needs to be easy to find, easy to navigate, useful, and visually impactful to draw your audience away from the competition and to you.
Effectively marketing your website needs to be multifaceted. Blogs, social networks, press releases, web partners, directories, articles, and anything else that can be used as an amplifier is a desirable media channel. The more quality connections you have across the web the more relevant you are to Google, and you want to be relevant to Google.
Presenting information on your website in an intuitive manner is key to allowing the user to effectively navigate your site. That, my friend, is usability. If your visitor can't find it then it may as well not exist. If you want to get someone to pick up the phone and call, make their time on your site worthwhile. Once they find it, the content needs to be informative and high value.
Once you've been found by your target audience you need to look the part. Websites that are dated, have stale graphics, and lack style are taken less seriously. When you've got company, put on your best. Ask yourself “Does my website look like it's wearing a suit or a faded t-shirt from high school?” Ultimately the trifecta of Usability, Content, and Design will allow you to convert casual passersby into paying customers.
